Where: Palmer, AK Who: Palmer Museum of History & Art, City of Palmer, Palmer Saroma Kai Highlights: Over 700+ people in attendance, $10K raised for relief efforts Activities: Japanese Crafts - sumi ink, origmai Tea Ceremony Exhibit of gifts from Japanese sister city Asian Medicine lecture Tomodachi Drumming Performance Zen Buddhism Blessing Ceremony Aikido Demonstration What: A benefit for the Japan disaster relief and a celebration of Palmer's sister city through the experience of food, art, music, language, and past times of Japanese culture. Countless individuals and more than a dozen organizations came together to make the event possible including: Tomodachi Daiko Drumming, Anchorage Zen Community, Palmer Arts Council, Tsunami Warning Center, Alaska Center for Acupuncture, Aikido North, Matanuska Susitna Borough School District and Mat-Su College. Arts & Crafts Workshops
![]() When: Winter 2011/12 Where: Palmer Museum, Palmer, AK Who: Five local artists What: Obtained a $1,200 grant from Alaska State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts to help support a series of arts and crafts workshops for the community. Potential to generate $5,300 of income for the organization and provide educational opportunities for up to 120 children and adults. |
